This blog is owned and authored by Raj (Rajasekharan N.) whom you could see in the picture here!
A picture is worth a thousand words, isn’t it? Hence let me hope you are having that first impression, the best impression so that I could avoid writing about me a thousand words!
Okay, the difficult part is writing an autobiography or defining oneself. Let me try that for you here.
Who am I?
I am:
- A civil engineer by education. A stock market investor since college days and soon a textile trader out of the college. Since stock market, real estate business, construction, textile industry, etc., are the first to get affected by a recession, I too got affected with my multiple business initiatives with economic slowdowns that occurred in my early career (or blame it on the lack of experience and scattering the eggs in too many nests). Hence I was looking for a career change, preferably a recession-proof job to pay my bills. A careful study on the previous global economic depressions revealed healthcare is the last (and least) to get hit by a slump and since I also have an aptitude for human anatomy and medicine, ended up with medical transcription.
- A medical transcriptionist from October 1999 until April 2012. Occupied different capacities as a transcriptionist, editor, team leader, quality analyst, manager, etc., in a couple of medical transcription service organizations (MTSOs) before getting into the shoes of an independent medical transcription contractor/home transcriptionist. Independent medical transcription contractor since 2003, mainly in the discipline of radiology.
- An introvert who hates to talk much, but medical transcription is what I’m passionate about especially due to the convenience this profession offers to work at home at my own convenient hours. On this blog, I’m sketching my musings on medical transcription, investing (particularly value investing), and a lot of other topics. Also, have an apt to network with other fellow value investors, and blogging fulfills that to a great extent.
- An advocate of early retirement and retired early in April 2012 at the age of 42.
What do I do?
I am
- Into business, stocks, farming, construction, real estate, etc.
- A part-time blogger since the inception of this blog.
- Very much disorganized but striving to be organized.
- A voracious reader.
- Eager to solve tough puzzles but nothing with complex variables, algebra, and equations in mathematics and chemistry equations (allergic to those alfa, beta, gamma but love doing anything numeric with a calculator).
- Fond of traveling (long drive), swimming, trekking (greenery lover).
- Married and am a father of a boy.
- A multilingual person being able to handle English, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Marathi.
- A passive investor now, but a momentum investor turned value investor, and managing my own properties and investments now.
I have a custom search engine “googleMT” of my own, a search engine exclusively for medical transcription. Anybody is welcome to try it and report any improvements in its performance that can be done.
Long story short, before 1999 and after studies, along with construction/real estate business, I was into multiple businesses; was a stockbroker, a moneylender, a yarn manufacturer, a yarn trader, an FMCG stockist, a small fleet operator, or in short “Jack of all trades, master of none,” with an end result of huge loss and bad debts; then a medical transcriptionist thereafter for a living. A passive investor at present.
