What are roundworms?
Roundworms are invertebrates with long, round bodies that vary in size from six to thirteen inches. Some females become as thick as a pencil. Infestations are most often found in warmer tropical climates and occur most often because of human carelessness in personal hygiene. The eggs live in the soil, animal feces, and human feces. Eggs get into the human body through hand to mouth contact. By the way, roundworms resemble noodles.
What are the symptoms of roundworm infestation?
Symptoms of a roundworm infection depend upon the severity of the infestation. A few worms in your intestines may not produce any symptoms at all or just mild abdominal pain. Ten to twenty worms may go unnoticed except in a routine stool examination. The commonest complaint is vague abdominal pain. The patient may experience listlessness, weight loss, anorexia, distended abdomen, intermittent loose stool, and occasional vomiting. Most symptoms are due to the physical presence of the parasitic worm. However, in heavy infestation, abdominal cramps occur. Occasionally, a mass of worms can block the intestines causing pain, vomiting, and bloating. Adult worms also can block other parts of the digestive tract such as the appendix, bile duct or pancreatic duct, causing similar symptoms. During the pulmonary stage when the larvae are migrating through the lungs, there may be a brief period of fever, cough, wheezing, dyspnea, sub-sternal discomfort and sometimes asthma.
Prevalence of roundworms
Roundworms are almost worldwide in distribution. The highest prevalence is in the tropical and subtropical regions and areas with inadequate sanitation. They are abundant in the surface layers of soils and can occur at all ages. However, they are more prevalent in the five to nine years’ age group. The incidence is higher in poor rural populations.
How do you get roundworms?
Infestation usually begins when the soil containing eggs get on to your hands. If you eat or touch your mouth before washing your hands, the eggs get into your mouth and swallowed. The eggs may also get into your body in food contaminated with human waste. Swallowed eggs hatch in the small intestine. They become larvae and swim through the bloodstream to the lungs and then to the throat and swallowed. Back in the stomach and small intestine, the larvae become adults, mate, and produce new eggs. The entire cycle, from the swallowing of eggs to the production of new eggs, takes about two to three months. Although people of all ages contract Ascaris worms, children are most likely to be heavily infested.
Life cycle of roundworms

Adult worms live in the lumen of the small intestine. A female may produce approximately 200,000 eggs per day and pass along with the feces. Unfertilized eggs may get inside but are not infectious. Fertile eggs embryonate and become infectious after eighteen days to several weeks depending on the environmental conditions. The optimal conditions are moist, warm, shaded soil. After swallowing the infectious eggs, the larvae hatch, invade the intestinal mucosa and carried via the portal, then systemic circulation to the lungs. The larvae mature further in the lungs in ten to fourteen days. Subsequently, they penetrate the alveolar walls, ascend the bronchial tree to the throat, and swallowed. Upon reaching the small intestine, they develop into adult worms. It takes two to three months from the ingestion of the infectious eggs to oviposition by the adult female. Altogether, adult worms can live one to two years.
Are roundworms contagious?
Of course yes, especially in areas where there are poor hygiene and sanitation practices.
Prevention and treatment of roundworms
- Ensure good personal hygiene and eating habits. Improved sanitation and hygiene would cut the risk of infection.
- Keep hands always clean. Trim nails. Wash hands before eating or preparing food. Wash hands after a toilet visit. Any anti-bacterial soap will usually insure a worm-free existence.
- Use safe drinking water.
- Wash fruits and vegetables in clean water thoroughly. The water that you may think as clean drinking water from a creek, river or stream can contain forms of parasites. Hence ensure that the water used for washing utensils and preparation of food is safe.
- Cooked food is safe. Unless you are sure that the vegetables are safely grown, avoid raw vegetables.
- Discourage children from sucking thumbs and biting nails.
- Deworm regularly with anthelmintic (anthelminthic) medications or as directed by your primary physician.
Roundworms synonyms
- Ascaris lumbricoides.
- Nematoda.
- Nematode.
- Ascaris.
Diagnosis of roundworm infestation
Confirmation of roundworm infestation is by the identification of eggs in the stool. The eggs are 40 to 70 micrometers by 35 to 50 micrometers in size. Ascaris produces such an abundance of eggs that they are often seen while examining stool samples under a microscope. Less commonly, an adult worm gets passed in the stool or may crawl up the throat and try to exit through the mouth or nose. Sputum or phlegm coughed up during the pulmonary stage can contain Ascaris larvae.
Medications for treating roundworm infestation
Doctors may prescribe several different oral medications to treat ascariasis. However, for a blocked intestine, surgery may be necessary. If the pulmonary stage is severe, corticosteroids lessen the symptoms. Mebendazole, 200 mg, for adults and 100 mg for children, for three days is effective. Talk to your doctor for more information and appropriate dosages and intervals.
ewwww. thats quite…..well, disturbing. i feel sorry for those people. ewwwwwwww.
You didn’t say anything about them popping out of my belly button, or between my toes!!! I am feeling really sick and very grossed out IF YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN GET HELP PLEASE send me an email at jffburnette (at) gmail.com.
Touch base with your physician. S/he should help you out.
At first deworm thoroughly. Later on deworm at regular intervals.
Recently , in Cambodia I had a mild bout of dysentry and had not managed to injest food or water for a number of days. On the morning of the fourth day I felt what seemed like vomit in the back of my throat, having washed it down with minimal water it reappeared again. I then managed to grab the object in the back of my throat and proceeded to pull out a 25 cm worm. The local doctor told me that it would have been hungry and came looking for food. It was possibly one of the most horrendous things that has happened to me.
Jesus…………..feeling chilled to hear this incident. It might be only one of the worms that surfaced up, may be still you’re infected with couple of other worms inside the body.
Probably with these worms inside, you might have had couple of blood related illnesses like anemia, lethargy and some intestinal disorders too.
The prevalence of these worms vary from place to place. Consult with your doctor on how often should you deworm and make it a practice to deworm regularly for better health.
I recently tested positive for roundworm. Treatment with the mebendazole is no longer available at my place. What are other recommendations?
Consult your doctor. Depending on your geographic location and suiting your body condition, your doctor may advise any or combination of the drugs albendazole, pyrantel palmoate, levamisole, tiabendazole, ivermectin, diethylcarbamazine etc., at an interval of two weeks. To avoid side effects/complications, it is best in your interests to take the deworming medicine under your physician’s supervision/consultation.
Idk if I have round worm I don’t k what it looks like starting out on my ankle I’m scared n need to k if its round worm on my ankle or not
Can anyone tell me how long can a roundworm stay alive outside of the body ?
A live (adult) roundworm cannot stay alive long outside the body, may be at the most until the poop (stool) dries up; however, the eggs and larvae can live mixed in the soil for several months. Moreover, if the roundworm comes out along the feces as a result of taking deworming medicines, it would already be dead.
BULL CRAP THEY turn into a hair and when they get wet they are alive again!!!
Yes, they would be dead and shattered into pieces only after you take deworming medicines mentioned above or if they are completely dried up in the sun for days and days. Else they could be live again once they get wet.
Yes you are right.. I seen it happen myself
Does any one know where I can go online to talk about my horrifying ongoing experience with parasites?
Can roundworm then be spread through coughing? Also does any kind of laundering or frequent changing of clothing need to be performed during an infection of roundworm?
There will be coughing once the larvae reaches the lungs but unless there is close body contact or where body fluids are exchanged like in lip-to-lip kiss, exchange of handkerchief, towel etc., it wouldn’t spread through air by coughing. Whether there is infection or not, it is always best to take a bath/change clothes once a day and to change the bedspread, linen etc., at least once in a fortnight. If roundworm infection is suspected, better deworm the family as a whole.
My son, from USA, never out of country, has been diagnosed and battling roundworms for a year and a half now! REALLY!!! Just 2 days ago diagnosed with pneumonia in right lung due to bacterial infection from the roundworms. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!
Your physician is your real savior in this situation to get your son dewormed. Trust him and follow promptly whatever regimen he advises. Let us know once your son has recovered. My prayers for your son.
Can roundworms cause, for instance my little sister do complain that she feels like throwing out after eating? She is 20 years old.
There are umpteen reasons for nausea including early pregnancy. Find them here. Only a doctor could diagnose the reason after due physical inspection and if necessary with some diagnostic tests.
I have taken the Pyrantel Pamoate. then the Dr. prescribed Albenza which I have been taking for 5 days now. Shouldn’t I be seeing dead worms being passed
in my stool?. I am still very nauseaous, losing weight and tired all the time.
By the action of deworming medicines, the worms get disintegrated before passing through stools and may not be visible for naked eyes.
There can be so many reasons for the other complaints of nausea, weight loss and lethargy. Based on the diagnosis arrived, only your doctor can help you with a remedy.
Hi, I have been in India for two months and have picked up round worm, I was tested and she said it was a mild case not many eggs. I was given two tablets one to take straight away and the next 2 weeks after to make sure it had gone. The first time before getting diagnosed I experienced constipation and my stomach was very swollen that went as I became very ill a couple of days later and was vomiting and had diarrhea. I have felt fine for the last 2 weeks since taking the tablet and all of a sudden my stomach has swollen again and I usually have a very very flat tummy, i tuck the second tablet and went to the toilet 3 times yesterday I found the first tablet made me go to the toilet a lot as well, but this isn’t normal everything I eat no matter what irritates my stomach , I feel almost pregnant, I thought these tablets would get rid of it so I don’t understand why I am having these symptoms. Its very unpleasant and I feel like puking also like I have eaten to much or something. I was thinking its the food and I have become sensitive to the spices but I was fine for a whole month so I don’t understand whats going on, I feel like being sick at the thought of it being in my throat and lungs.
Psychologic impact. Dewormers should have done the job. Get a stool test done to rule out traces of parasites. That should clear your doubts and impart peace of mind.
I have the exact same symptoms. I would have nearly written this question word for word. Do you know how long, on average, it takes for the bloating to subside after the worms have passed?
We have an exchange student from Asia staying with our family for the last 5 months who just told me that he has roundworm. Please help!
Is it contagious? I don’t want it spread to my family. What can I do to avoid this?
Is roundworm completely cureable after being medicated or is it something that he will live with for the rest of his life?
Read the above page top to bottom, including reader interaction.
Can round worms migrate into the nasal cavity? I have been taking an herbal parasite cleanse and am finding dead white worms in my nose when I blow my nose. Could this be the cause of post nasal drip or tinnitus? Occasionally, I can also see round worm floating on my retina. I have completed a course of Combantrin as well. How long will it take to clear them from my nasal cavity? Thank you.
Why not? It should be able to find its way wherever it can creep into, though I am unaware of it finding its way to retina! Talk to your doctor.
Laser treatment should do
My son age 6years is suffer from high fever twice in a year(after 5 or 6 month) for 2 year all the tests of his blood are OK but only TLC increase about 20000(normal range 4000-11000)and in the stool test there is roundworm 2-3 doctor says that roundworm increases TLC during this illness he is taking breath open the mouth after sleeping . please tell me there is a problem from the roundworm
I don’t think breathing through the mouth while sleeping is associated with roundworms (unless it comes up and obstructs airway!) but should be because of habit or because of airway obstruction due to other illnesses like common cold. Your doctor would be the ideal person to guide you and should have given you deworming medicines as the stool test was positive. Check with your doctor.
I am 24 years old weighing just 52 kilo, I do have round worms and I could see lot of them every time I goto toilet, I eat more than any usual guy but I am not able to gain weight, my questions
1. Round worms are the reason that I am under weighted?
2. How much time it may take to overcome this problem
Yes, if your forefathers were not lean or underweight (genetics), most probably worms are taking up all your nutrition. Deworm twice,in 2-3 week interval, and you should be fine.
3 months ago, i had anesthesia for surgery, hospitalized for 1 nite. Almost immediately after, i developed a cough with wheezing which has progressively become worse. After seeing an ent with no result, i,m scheduled for a petscan. I started paying more attention to the stools i,m passing and have seen some really weird results. Twice i,ve passed several cream colored large maggot looking , but non moving objects, and many translucent 2 inch long things that look like young roundworms.. my cat has had them, so i know what they look like. Good idea to schehule with a gastroenterologist? Your thought would be appreciated. Thank you.
Yes, you could have infested roundworms from your cat. The cough could have been the result of larvae reaching your lungs and maturing there. Better seek your doctor’s help or a gastroenterologist as you said. S/he could guide you with a stool test, deworming medicines, and the deworming interval in your case to completely get rid of the adult worms and larvae.
Act immediately. Good luck.
Our family was diagnosed with ringworm which was discovered when an large adult worm exited thru feces. We are all being treated with Medication. Are the worms, eggs or ulva that exit us during deworming contagious to others? We have an infant in diapers and caregiver is nervous about changing diaper. We are Unsure how we got ringworm and want to avoid re infection any cleaning suggestions for the house or carpet? How long can infective eggs live on carpet or inside home surfaces?
Be specific. Is it ringworm or roundworm?
We have roundworm.
I got rid from one round worm it was in my stomach I came to know when it came out through stool. It was 1 feet in length than I started to take albendazole. So how I will come to know that all round worm has been killed? Please help
Do a stool test.
I will get my stool test but tell me one more thing that one round worm has come out through by stool its length was 1 feet so tell me can more adult alive round worm be in my stomach.
Do you think there can only be one roach in the kitchen?
I’ve been researching a lot online and cannot find many images of what roundworm looks like in human stool. I suspect I might have roundworm, but don’t want to come across like a hypochondriac if I do not. Do you know a good resource for images of round worm in human stool I can check out to help me decide if what I have looks similar and if I need a stool test?
Sorry. I am helpless.
Is it normal for worms to come out in puppy feces once medicated?
Your veterinarian would be the ideal person to guide you in this regard.
My 2y old daughter had a 7 inch roundworm exit her backside this weekend. Apart from being utterly gross & unpleasant for her (& me!) we have now been treated but I was wondering how long it would have taken to get that big?
Read the life cycle above.
Thank you so much Raj, for all the great answers and info! I couldn’t find this info on any other page, and believe me, I have been searching like crazy all week since being diagnosed. I went to the hospital in West Africa and was diagnosed with malaria, typhoid, and roundworms. The crazy thing, I have only been here 5 weeks. According to above, I would have already been infected when I got here. I was in Africa a few months ago, and again a year ago. Do you think I got it then, or is it possible to go from contamination to egg laying in 5 weeks? I have been trying to be careful with my food. Thanks again!
I Saved a 2 month old cat’s life. The vet told me it had roundworms after checking stool and doing preliminary deworming. But several days later I accidently tipped 2 cups of his liter with feces on my carpet. I had know idea what I was dealing with. I swept and vacumed the affected area, about 10 feet by 7 feet, but it was concentrated in one 4 foot corner. Unfortunately the air conditioner was on high too. 1) What are chances this material is in carpet still? 2) How many times should I vacume; especially after spraying diluted bleach? 3) And could these eggs be air borne, and also dispersed through the air conditioner to even farther places of my home?
the two roundworms that were in my daughters toilet were just laying in the bottom of the toilet alive…1 1/2 in. each….after a twelve hour period of time from last flush and not in poop. Could it have come from any other means then from her? She is the only one to use the bathroom and it is not clean.
Only a stool test of your daughter could clarify your doubt.
Hello Raj,
I have just been diagnosed with roundworm. I am taking mebendazole 6 tatlets 1 in morning and 1 in the evening for 3days. My question is can I take anything else like laxatives to get any worms out of my stomach quicker? Thank you
hello Raj, I’m taking mebendazole but is there any way i Can you flush out round worm with food or drink. I know not to have sugar as that is what the worm thrives on. Any help on this would appreciated.
Deworming drugs (mebendazole in your case) will fragmentize nematodes into pieces and will be excreted along with feces. Nothing else needs to be done.
Sugar alone? That’s a myth. They thrive on whatever you eat.
Hi, my daughter is 3 and took albendazole three days AFO. Last night she was coughing (after suddenly getting a cough after being medicated) and this morning I found 3 10-15cm roundworms on the floor! Of course I am panicked. Why are they intact?? Should I worry about them being in her lungs?
Yes, seek your pediatrician’s help.
My doctor put me on Vermox last day. Can you see parasites when you pass stool, as I passed a mucus red blob by itself and my stomach is upset?
I found what appears to be a round worm in my stool and have taken samples to the lab. I collapsed last August in excruciating pain and was hospitalized while many tests were done. It took weeks before I could walk on my own. The pain persists but not the horrifying spasms and I have an appointment for ultrasound on my gall bladder. Could roundworm have caused these problems?
I have had symptoms of pancreatitis(severe pain in upper abdomen that comes on suddenly which radiated to the back with profuse sweating during this episode) for about 18 months but no evidence of pancreatitis. Along with a rash on my legs that raised small bumps that itch like crazy, diarrhea, bloating and my stomach constantly bothering me. I recently have seen string like things in my stool and small round balls with a string attached. I feel like it is a parasite. My dr said most parasite tests come back negative and a waste of money. What should I do?
Could try deworming with over-the-counter dewormers.
I was doing a quick wash-off in the tub. When I got out, I found a worm that appeared lifeless. But when I picked it up with tissue, after a few minutes it began to move. It looks like a roundworm from the pictures I see online. Is it possible it came out while washing? I have been constipated lately. I am freaked out thinking I have live worms in my body. Please help.
Deworm regularly.
I’ve had an eye twitch for the past month that just wasn’t right and some weird liver complaints back in May when they thought I had hepatitis (I had a low grade fever for a month). I’m breastfeeding my 21 month old and we co-sleep, along with our dog. I started de-worming him in July but we have plenty of opportunities to inhale eggs whenever we go in our backyard (I’m changing the grass this week). I ate pineapple for a few days and a load of pumpkin seeds then washed my stool and found what looked like roundworms to me (and maybe flukes). Brought the dog for a second deworming immediately then my son and I were given Mebandazole 500 ml each to take right away. I’ve seen the dead ones in his nappy (they don’t appear blasted to pieces, or maybe I’m just looking at smaller sections of them?). I’m paranoid they’re crawling out of my throat or nose or moving in my eye. I’ll take the second dose of the de-wormer in 2 weeks but do you think I should insist our doctors do a stool sample in the meantime? My son is relatively healthy but he has the night tremors while dreaming and we both have really inflamed tissue in the sides of our mouths and sometimes infected palpale on the tongue. Any ideas if we’re dealing with another worm or if it’s just roundworm? Also, amazing job answering everyone’s questions on here! Thank you!
1.) You may not have to insist a stool test if your physician decides not to.
2.) Anthelmintic drugs (deworming medicines) are capable of eliminating almost all types of parasites. So you don’t have to worry about what sort of worm it is.
3.) Deworm regularly, at least that is what WHO/UNICEF says for growing kids. Why not make it a habit for the whole family including pets?
4.) Keep pets outdoors, as away as possible.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!
4 days ago we discovered a worm approx 20cm in my 2year old daughter’s stool. It looked like an earthworm. Comparing it to online images it also looked like a roundworm and we thought that’s probably the case as she played in sand at a park where people walk their dogs quite a lot, approx 5 weeks ago. I collected stool to test and results came back that it is an earthworm. I doubt the results somehow. Can an earthworm survive in a human stomach and come out in tact as they don’t have the surviving abilities as a parasite worm?? (Stomach acid would kill and digest earthworms)
Our daughter hasn’t been sleeping well (normally she sleeps very well) the last three days waking up crying 3-4 times a night like she is in discomfort.
We took a dose of Ovex (Abendazole) just in case.
Is there anything else we can do to confirm the type of worm?
I noticed a large blob of what looked to be stringy spaghetti in the toilet bowl with the fecal material I passed. I took it to the doctor (in Florida) and he said it was roundworm. He gave me a prescription for a med-2 pills to be taken together one time. I continue to pass more of the same. Are these dead or alive?
Thanks
I don’t know where else to take this question so when I saw this site, I thought maybe you could help. Back in the 80’s I moved my sofa to vacuum under it. I was shocked and appalled to see a GIANT white worm coming up from the carpet. I only saw about an inch of it when it suddenly retracted back into the carpet. I couldn’t see him after that so I assumed he was under the carpet. I didn’t know much about worms in carpet except to hear about carpet worms so I looked into that and found that they are small. This thing was not small! It looked like a small snake! It had no eyes that I could see nor did it have a mouth. It was pure white. I’ve looked at pictures of tapeworms and round worms and the round worm looks closest to what I saw, but it looks too thin compared to what I saw. The worm I saw was about 1/2 in wide. I had a dog back then.
Could that have been a round worm? If not, what the heck was it?! I will never forget that incident.
Neither of the aforementioned parasites can live outside a host’s body. Since it was alive and crawling, it should be something else.
I’m 9 weeks pregnant. Last night around midnight I ate some linguini. This morning around 10am I had a formed stool with what looked like linguini noodle wrapper around and in the stool. I have been having unpredictable bowel issues due to hormones. I have no other symptoms aside from morning sickness. Nothing was moving in the stool (it didn’t look like a living worm but it did look like pasta or a parasite). What should I do? If I wait until my next stool and it is normal would there still be concern for a parasite or is it likely just undigested food? Thanks and sorry for the gross question.
Only a stool test could reveal the truth.
I had a feeling in my upper throat, not really like a tickle that needs scratching, and not painful at all, as if something was moving, but always at the same place. For two to three weeks, each time the feeling came back, I stuck my finger in my throat and scratch it but all I pulled was saliva bubbles and at times, white bits, not the tonsil stones which smell which I used to have but not any more. When it was food debris I identified them as if I ate cabbage for example, it was green, so that did not worry me. But reading what happens to other people, I became very scared and wondered if I had tapeworm, although I have never seen segments in the stools.
I take DE (food grade silica powder) since over one year, and wondered if it could be that the silica is creating a bad environment for worms of any kind, and they are coming up the throat, or their larvae. Is it possible?
Also, I take 5 tablets per day for osteoporosis, which are white, and wondered if the odd white small clump I find sometimes in the stools are undigested tablets or could it be something else. They are isolated, and one at a time occasionally.
The tickle has now gone in my throat, and I wonder if whatever it was has moved somewhere else. If it was a larvae, was it under the skin of the throat, or are these things outside on the wall of the throat, and how long would they stay there, if that’s what it was?
When i poop last night i was shock that there was a worm in my poop about 6 to 7 inch long, so i research on my phone and it looks so close to the roundworms.
i cannot go out to buy medicine because im working in a different place and we are not allowed to go out.
what should i eat to help expel this worms in my stomach if there are still some left.
coz im really scared of knowing that i have worms in my body that long..
Is it possible to pass a bunch of normal poop and then a blob of poop that looks like it has maybe 20 2 inch worms in it? I noticed this tonight and have looked for pics but not seeing or reading anything about multiple worms being passed…they almost looked like roots and were almost white/tan in color. I did take pictures and will see a doctor next week as I just had a bout of divirticulitis flare up that I was in the hospital for. But could this have been a bunch of worms? The other pieces of poo looked somewhat normal…and what time of worm could this be? Im sorry to be so graphic Thank you on advance for your time
My puppy currently has roundworms and one time she pooped some normal poop, and also a bunch of worms that looked like noodles
I have 11 horses,5 cats, started out with one raccoon that showed up and as time went by have 12 that I feed daily! I believe I have contacted round worms, buy feel like they are swimming around all over my body if that’s what they do! I have a appt. With a infectious Doctor in a couple days! I tried telling my regular Dr. I suspected I had parasites and she said it’s just all in my head ,still kept having something wiggling behind my eye then it went to both and then had problems with my sinuses and these long stringing things would break off and fall into my nose and I would blow them out with lots of blowing blood out of my nose and they did not move but looked just like worms! I said it’s all in my head and just shook it off as if they were some kind of polop are something! Now I am constipated and gasy took a bowl and had these real string light brown things in my bowel! I got one on a piece of tissue and put into a old medicine bottle to bring to my Doctor Friday! Im thinking tound worm but I have them all over my body inside I feel all this movement! Now my nose is stating to itch again really bad like before! Was taking parasite stuff I got at a herbal place up the road and it cost a hundred bucks it did not work! I may have more than just one kind of worm being that I walk barefoot a lot! I had no idea that some worms can go through your feet! I am a very clean woman and wash my hands before cooking are eating! I believe my cat got into something a few months back and when I picked him up to love and miss on him I felt all these things jump on me and attack the inside of my nose! They were like tiny tiny tiny little clear contact looking things with a black ring inside of them! That is where all my problems started?
Roundworms and maybe hook worms
i had a 15 to 20 cms long off white coloured worm coming out of my mouth. it is a pencil thick. whom should i concern ? and what diet should i follow?
How long does the treatment last?
I hate to tell you this but I’ve also been battling roundworm for several years. I used mebendazol twice and they were still there. Stool tests, which I did twice, failed to detect them. A doctor at UCI who specializes in parasitology (university of CA Irvine), insisted that I did not have parasites and said they would not show in the stool test but he reluctantly did it anyway. He was right the test did not detect the parasites. Neither did a previous stool test.
My Ayurvedic practitioner who is also a prominent neurologist in San Diego, explained that this is common. She treated me after I had these tests and because I saw some parasites in the toilet, I know they were there and spite of the negative results of the tests.
That was about 3 years ago and recently the symptoms returned to my dismay. She is no longer seeing patients, but I sought out iridologist who is in Nashville who cleared up parasites infections years ago for two friends of mine. She can work with photos of your eyes. Her name is Brenda Star and you can search for her contact info using google.
I am now on day 3 of her treatment and as of day 2, I am already seeing dead roundworms in my stool.
I pray that she can help me overcome this disastrous affliction. I think I got it either from my cat or on a trip to Cancun many years ago when became very ill immediately from eating something that was infected.
Parasites like this also “come back” right away when you have a leaky gut, which I do or at least did. (If they come back that means the treatment wasn’t 100 percent effective unless you were exposed again.)
So you also need to treat your leaky gut. And parasites are also prevalent with candida. I am on a strict candida diet now, too.
Whatever else you do for the leaky gut, eat bone broth every other day with some veggies in it. I always make my own in a slow cooker.
Don’t eat sugar (not even fruit), dairy, or gluten while you are ridding yourself of parasites and/or candida. but it takes more than diet. Try contacting Brenda Star. I did not tell her that I recommended her here. So I’d rather you search for her yourself.
I’m not sure exactly she is totally informed about the candida issue and I’m pretty sure she doesn’t know much about the leaky gut aspect so you will have to research those things on your own.
The book about candida by nutritionist Ann Boroch, who is now deceased, seems to be a good resource. I am on her diet now. She talks about Candida, leaky gut, and she refers to parasites. But mostly about candida.
Much luck in your healing process. I feel for you as I do for myself.
there is no Brenda Star… put a link. what protocol are you on???
Search Brenda Star Nashville iridologist and you arrive at http://www.brendastar.net. I am on a protocol.she suggested. It is unique to the individual.

Deworm periodically.
How long can roundworms last in the human body? I passed a roundworm years ago through my urine. I have every symptom currently and I am not doing well. I use the natural anti parasitic herbs, but I’m still sick. My doctor laughs about the prospect of roundworms and he stated he never had a patient with roundworm. He’s 57 years old. My stool tests came back negative. Where can I get professional help? Many physicians don’t know about the condition and think the patient is a fool like my doctor.
I have round worms. So sick, I took medicine 2 times from my doctor. I still have them.
They are in my nose, mouth. Some look like hairs. So sick.
